RPEQ mechanical engineering design and verification in Brisbane

Mechanical and process plant design from concept to detailed design, with RPEQ verification and certification for work in Queensland. We also review other people's designs, manage multidisciplinary design packages and provide engineering capacity inside client teams.

Who we work with

Utilities and councils that need an independent RPEQ to verify or certify designs; contractors and consultants that need mechanical design or design management capacity; operators that need a modification engineered properly rather than improvised.

Problems we are asked to solve

  • Queensland work needs a Registered Professional Engineer to carry out or supervise the design, and the team does not have one.
  • A contractor's design needs an independent review before the owner accepts it.
  • A plant modification needs calculations, drawings and a certified design, quickly, without a large consultancy's overhead.
  • A project team needs a mechanical engineer embedded for six months.

What we do

  • Concept, feasibility, FEED and detailed design for mechanical and process plant: pumps and pipelines, pressure equipment, materials handling, treatment and desalination plant
  • RPEQ design verification and certification under the Professional Engineers Act 2002 (Qld)
  • Independent design review and technical assurance
  • Design management of multidisciplinary packages
  • Cost modelling and estimates for options and business cases
  • 3D modelling and analysis in Autodesk Inventor for concept and detailed design
  • Installation, testing and commissioning support and approvals
  • Engineering standards and specifications for asset owners
  • Resource augmentation: mechanical engineering, project management and design management inside your team

Recent work

  • RPEQ design, review and verification of mechanical and hydraulic designs for major water infrastructure, and design management of a reservoir dosing facility for a water utility.
  • Super duplex flanged joint calculations and a control system standards and cybersecurity gap analysis at a seawater desalination plant.
  • Engineering standards and the capital works project management framework for a water utility, as the owner's mechanical engineer for a recycled water scheme and a desalination plant.
  • Feasibility, detailed design and capacity expansion studies for mining, power station and water infrastructure, including bulk materials handling to CEMA standards.
  • Early career in 3D design of mining materials handling equipment and pharmaceutical packaging machinery.

Questions we are often asked

What does RPEQ verification cover?

A Registered Professional Engineer takes responsibility for the engineering of the work in their area of registration. We verify designs in mechanical engineering and say clearly where another discipline's RPEQ is needed.

Can you certify a design prepared by someone else?

Yes, provided we can review the inputs, the calculations and the drawings to the depth the Act requires. Where we cannot, we tell you what is missing.

Do you work outside Queensland?

Yes. The RPEQ requirement applies to engineering for Queensland; elsewhere we work as a chartered engineer on the National Engineering Register.
